I'm a painter and design artist from North Palm Beach, Florida.
My parents were both artists who made their success in photography. Working with my father in photography and getting great tips from my mother(also an oil painter and an opera singer), gave me a priceless education in the arts. I also studied ballet, classical piano and dramatic arts. In my young adulthood portrait photography paid the rent and put food on my table. Then came the graphic arts business. This also was a bread and butter art endeavor while raising my three daughters. From 2001 to 2009 I worked with at-risk teens. Directing the arts program was my dream job. It was such a joy to see these troubled young people channeling their energies and emotions through the use of the arts to bring positive outcomes in their lives. It is an honor to have been a part of each one of those young lives and also to have worked with such a dedicated team of staff members and volunteers. I will be forever grateful to God for this opportunity.
In 2011 I was awarded a honorary BFA degree due to my extensive life experience and work using the performing and fine arts to help at risk teenagers.
Today my focus is drawing and designing. I still love to create a painting in oils occasionally. Most of my work is done in acrylics, or pen and ink. Creating and drawing designs for my coloring books, wall art, and home goods are my passion. The wave of the future seems to be iPad and Adobe app art for many designers, but my desire is to limit the use of technology for primarily marketing and publishing purposes. That's why all of my designs are hand drawn by me and never created digitally. I love the feel of the brush on the canvas, or the pencil on the paper. Crafting something with real materials and my own two hands out of sheer inspiration is so fulfilling and energizing. And the final product has a personal feel and and look instead of digital perfection. So when you color one of my coloring pages it will be perfectly imperfect, just the way I believe art should be.
